The role of Treasurer includes all the duties of a director.
In addition the treasurer is expected to 1:
- Check that Autscape has enough funds to meet its present and future needs and provide general financial information to the board regularly
- Provide specific financial information to the board on request
- Take the lead role in ensuring that Autscape's annual accounts are prepared and submitted promptly to Companies House and the Charities Commission in accordance with legal requirements
- Find and liaise with suitable accountants and review this relationship regularly
- Manage the process of independent auditing of the accounts if required
- Managing expenses claims and other disbursements and maintaining Autscape's financial records
- Ensuring efficient collection of funds due to Autscape including liaising with the registrar to manage the collection of fees from participants
- Regularly review and manage access arrangements for Autscape's bank account(s) and other financial arrangements
- Contributing to the fundraising strategy of the organization
- Making a formal presentation of the accounts at the annual general meeting and drawing attention to important points in a coherent and easily understandable way
- Inform themselves about company and charity law relating to financial reporting and management
Treasurer person specification
- Commitment to Autscape
- Willingness and ability to devote significantly more time and effort than a typical director
- Ability2 to produce documents by a required time
- Ability2 to maintain accurate financial records using the accruals method and in a suitable format for the production of annual accounts
- Good numeracy and knowledge of basic bookkeeping/accountancy skills
- Ability2 to store and post documents reliably
- Experience of and/or willingness to learn about relevant requirements of company and charity law
- Preparedness to make unpopular recommendations to the board when necessary to protect Autscape's financial stability

- Specific tasks may be delegated by the treasurer to others but it remains the responsibility of the treasurer to oversee these areas.
- It is recognised that an autistic person may well need support to achieve this but a potential treasurer will need to be confident of their ability to access suitable support reliably.
