The nearest airports to the venue are Gatwick Airport, Luton Airport, Heathrow Airport and London City Airport.

Below are some suggested routes. If you would like more details about any of these routes please email the travel planning list. You can use the online transport planning sites to see other suggestions or plan your own route.

Gatwick Airport

Gatwick airport is one of the best airports for this year's venue.

From Gatwick Airport you can get a direct train to East Croydon station, this train ride takes about 15 minutes. East Croydon is between five and six miles from the venue.

To get from East Croydon to the venue check the final steps page.

If you really wanted to arrive closer than East Croydon you could extend your journey by travelling in and out of central London to end up at a station closer to the venue by staying on the train until it reaches London City and change here to a train for Hayes Kent. This would add an extra hour onto your journey time but Hayes (Kent) station is just over a mile from the venue.

To get from Hayes (Kent) to the venue check the final steps page.

Travelling from Luton Airport

Travel from Luton Airport takes some time but isn't too difficult.

Luton Airport Parkway station is about ten minutes away from London Luton Airport and is served by a frequent shuttle bus. This shuttle bus costs around one pound or can be included in your rail ticket.

The train from Luton Airport Parkway to East Croydon is a direct train (the ultimate destination of this train will be Brighton). This journey will take you approximately an hour and a half.

The second step is to get to the venue from East Croydon. To do this follow the instructions on the final stepspage.

Travelling from Heathrow Airport

Either use a mixture of the tube and overground rail to get to one of the stations close to the venue or get the X26 coach service from Heathrow Airport to East Croydon Station

X26 Coach Service

This service is ran by Metro Bus. This coach leaves from Heathrow Central which is situated outside terminals 1,2 and 3. The journey takes about an hour and a half. The coach's final destination is "West Croydon, Whitgift Centre" but you will alight before that stop. For more information about this service including the price see the The Metro Bus website.

If you prefer to use the underground you can use the journey planning sites to find your route.

Travelling from Stansted Airport

Stansted airport is not actually in London, even though it is often listed as such. It is someway north of London and the venue is south of London. It is not the best airport to use for the 2009 venue.

By train

The Stansted Express provides a direct train link between Stansted Airport and London Liverpool Street where the train terminates.

From London Liverpool Street it takes about an hour and a quarter to reach the venue. Check the journey planner sites listed below for journey details (your destination is the postcode BR4 9HH), your journey will include at least two buses and one train journey.

Alternatively you may wish to travel from London Liverpool Street to East Croydon station (which is the train station most other routes will go via) this will involve a bus to London Bridge rail station and then a train to East Croydon. Again check the journey planning sites below for instuctions on how to get to East Croydon station. Then check the final steps page for information on getting to the venue from East Croydon Station.

By coach

National Express run a coach service between Stansted Airport and London Victoria. This service takes over an hour and a half. The coach is cheaper than the train but can take nearly twice as long depending on traffic.

Use the journey planners below to plan your route to the venue whose postcode is BR4 9HH. Two suggestions are given below. From London Victoria Coach Station walk to London Victoria Train Station then either get a train to Bromley South Station and then a bus to the venue or get a direct train to East Croydon Rail Station and then follow final steps page to travel to the venue from East Croydon.

London City

Another airport close to the venue is London City Airport. Best use the London journey planners to see the stages involved in travelling from there.
